Circulatory System

Human circulatory system 

What is it?

It is one of the most important systems in the body. Circulatory system transports materials throughout the entire body as nutrients, water, and oxygen and permits the integration among the various tissues. It keeps all the blood in your circulatory system flowing. Blood helps oxygen get around your body. When you exercise you can feel your pulse, it tells you how fast your heart is pumping.

The circulatory system is made up of the heart, blood, blood vessels, arteries, veins and capillaries.

Functions:

The heart is the key organ in the circulatory system. Its main function is to propel blood throughout the body. It usually beats from 60 to 100 times per minute, but can go much faster when necessary. It beats about 100,000 times a day, more than 30 million times per year, and about 2.5 billion times in a 70-year lifetime.
