The sensitive plant


Description

The sensitive plant is a type of herbaceous plant that it is part of the legume family. It comes from South and Central America, but it can be found in tropical and subtropical areas in the world.
The sensitive plant is a short plant with green short leaves and purple/pink flowers. The principal characteristic of this plant is that it can close its leaves.


Sensitive plant movement

The leaves close in lot of events like when you touch it, warm it, blow it, shake it or at night. These movements are called seismonastic movements.





Life cycle

The sensitive plant’s seeds grow any time of the year but more frequently from  November to March.
The flowering normally is three months after germination.

Sensitive plant will grow in a house next to a sunny window with some direct sunlight. 

Reproduction:
The sensitive plant can reproduce by seeds in any time of the year.

- The scientific name of the sensitive plant is Mimosa pudica.
- The purple/pink flowers of sensitive plants are made of lots of stamens that create a spherical shape.
