WIND FARMS

                   The wind farms

      WHAT IS A WIND FARM?

A wind farm is a group of wind turbines that convert
 wind energy into electrical energy

       HOW IS THE WIND POWER?

Wind power is the energy from wind .Is the kinetic
generated by the effect of the air currents, and is
transformed into other useful forms for human
activitives

     FOR WIND ENERGY IS USED?

In the news,Wind Energy is used primarily to produce electric
  power by turbines

     WHERE ARE THE EOLICAS CENTRALS
      IN SPAIN?

            Are in:
  •   Navarra
  •  Canary Islands
  •  Galicia (whit the greatest power capacity)
  •  Castilla la Mancha

What is solar energy:

Solar energy is radian light and heat the sun harnessed
using a range of ever-evoling technologies such as solar heating, solar thermal energy,articifial...

Also the solar energy is souce of renewable energy.
Characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture and distribute solar energy or convert it into solar power.

  • Solar hot water
  • Solar electricity
  • Passive Solar Heating and Day lighting
  • Solar Process Space Heating and Cooling

The sun also is a solar power station

Also yo can put in your roof

Thermal Power Stations. Lucas González

Thermal Power Stations

1.- What's a thermal power station?

A thermal power station is a power plant, in which the prime mover is pushed by steam. A conventional coal-fired power plant produces electricity by the burning of coal and air in a steam generator, where it heats water to produce high pressure and high temperature steam. The steam flows through a series of steam turbines, which spin an electrical generator to produce electricity. The exhaust steam from the turbines is cooled, condensed back into water, and returned to the steam generator to start the process over.

2.- Types of thermal power station

Almost all coal, nuclear, geothermal, solar thermal electric, and waste incineration plants, as well as many natural gas power plants are thermal.

3.- How does it work?

When water is heated, it turns into steam and spins a steam turbine, which drives an electrical generator. Once it has passed through the turbine, the steam is condensed in a condeser, and recycled  he place in where it has been heated. This is known as a Rankine cycle.

NUCLEAR ENERGY

NUCLEAR ENERGY

There are 4 tips of energy:
-Solar
-Hydroelectric
-Termal
-Nuclear

Nuclear energy is a clean, safe way to make electricity. It does not burn any fuel like coal so there are no pollutants released into the air.

Nuclear energy is energy that is stored in the nucleus or center of an atom. The nucleus of an atom is made of tiny particles of protons (+ positive charge) and neutrons (no charge). The electrons(- negative charge) move around the nucleus. The nuclear energy is what holds the nucleus together.

In order to use this energy, it has to be released from the atom. There are two ways to free the energy inside the atom.

1. Fusion

Fusion is a way of combining the atoms to make a new atom.
For example, the energy from the sun is produced by fusion. Inside the sun, hydrogen atoms are combined to make helium. Helium doesn't need that much energy to hold it together, so the extra energy produced is released as heat and light.

2. Fission

Fission is a way of splitting an atom into two smaller atoms. The two smaller atoms don't need as much energy to hold them together as the larger atom, so the extra energy is released as heat and radiation.

-Nuclear power plants use fission to make electricity. By splitting uranium atoms into two smaller atoms, the extra energy is released as heat.

-Uranium is a mineral rock, a very dense metal, that is found in the ground and is non-renewable, that means we can't make more. It is a cheap and plentiful fuel source.

-Power plants use the heat given off during fission as fuel to make electricity.

Fission creates heat which is used to boil water into steam inside a reactor.

-The steam then turns huge turbines that drive generators that make electricity.
-The steam is then changed back into water and cooled down in a cooling tower.
-The water can then be used over and over again.

Wind farms

Wind farms

Hello I'm going to explain what are the wind farms.....

CHARACTERISTICS

  •    Wind farms and solar power stations transforms the wind and the Sun energy.
  •    A wind farm is a form for wind turbines transform the electric energy.
  •    To put a wind farm, first put vanes and anemometres unless the blades can not move.
  •    With that has put a compass installed in each wind turbine to indivate the direction and the speed.
  •    Europe has 140  wind turbines spanning 2,3 MW each.
  •    But the biggest wind farm is in Huelva with 383,8 MW in each turbine.
  •    And wind farms in Spain are in Castilla y Leon that are those who have a lot of power.

The rotor:
Is the set of blades of a windmill and it is the main part of eolic energy. The blades must be completely balanced and with an adapted form to cause max speed.

Control mechanisms and guidance:
It guides the rotor to indicate the direction. There are two types: Horizontal axis rotors and within these are the rotor downwind and upwind rotors. There are vertical axis rotors too.

Support structure:
It is the part that holds the windmill. It can be formed of any type of materials but these materials must be resistant to the weight of the mill.

Mini dictionary:

 Prairies : praderas,
Windmills : molinos de viento,
Blade : aspa,
Uneven : desigual,
Higher :superior,
Vane : veleta.

SOLAR ENERGY

WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY

-Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the sun harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis

-SOLAR ENERGY IS RENEWABLE OR NON RENEWABLE?

The concept of a renewable energy source can be broken down very simply: If using a resource today doesn't diminish the availability of that resource tomorrow, then it's renewable. There's a bit of a gray area, however, because the definition of a renewable resource depends on how much you use and how quickly you use it. Even with the fuzzy definitions, it's hard to think of solar energy as anything except renewable
Solar energy is not like petroleum. The petroleum will spend but it's not like our solar energy. We will have it always.

Solar energy is very useful for our lifes.

1. Solar indoor lights. You can burn up a lot of expensive energy using regular lights inside your home. 3. Solar chargers for electronics. Yes, your cell phone, laptop, MP3 players and many other electronic devices can be charged with solar power. There are several solar-powered chargers on the market that either charge internal batteries, (like in cell phones) or charge C, D, AA, and AAA batteries for use in other electronic devices.Solar indoor lighting is an environmentally-friendly and sustainable option in a world where it has become crucial that we seek out alternative energy sources.

2. Outdoor Lights. You can use solar energy to power your landscaping lights. Solar energy garden lights to light your pathways or gardens are inexpensive and can be purchased in many different styles at your local home improvement store. The solar cells located on the top of the lights gather energy from the sun and store it in small batteries inside the lights.

3. Solar chargers for electronics. Yes, your cell phone, laptop, MP3 players and many other electronic devices can be charged with solar power. There are several solar-powered chargers on the market that either charge internal batteries, (like in cell phones) or charge C, D, AA, and AAA batteries for use in other electronic devices.

thermal power stations

         THERMAL POWER STATIONS

Hello I´m going to talk abaut thermal power stations so first I´m going to explain you what is a thermal power station.

A thermal power station is a power plant in which the prime move is to burn fuels they obtained energy by burning fuel like coal and oil this is the process wen water is converted into steam. After, the steam moves the turbine and made a lot of energy. Thermal power stations also are designed to produce hot  energy for industrial usess.

the parts of a termal power station are:electric generators, gas turbine, steam turbine, boiler and hearth.

The termal power stations produce many problems, let´s see some of that problems, the termal power stations are very useful because they produce a lot of energy, but also they are very dangerous.Changes in the landscape, depletion of the not- renewable energy.and a lot of polution that we breathe. The burning of the fuels prucess gases that pollute the air. The constryuction of reservoirs changes the landscape. The acid rain drags the polution that is in the air, and destoys the  forests.

How we can use either  the energy, there are many things that we can do to use either the energy.Turn off the lights:wen we are not using the lights, also we can use sun lights because is free and and does not pollute,Use public transport is cheaper and produce the same energy that a car. Not put the heating or air conditioning a long time.

And recycle, reuse, reduce, this is very easy we use things but if we can reuse something we are practise the 3 r´s , if we have a paper you can put in the blue container and we also are practise the 3 r´s , and finally the third ´´r`` is wen we are doing all of things that I say before.
