The animals are divided in two big groups :

Vertebrates:
the vertebrates animals have a backbone.

Invertebrates : the invertebrates animals don´t have a backbone.

Vertebrates animals are divided in five types:

  • Fishes : The fishes live into the water, breathe through gills, are oviparous and have scales in your body.
  • Amphibians : The amphibians live near of the water , have four legs and some have a tail. They are oviparous.
  • Reptiles : The reptiles breathe through lungs they move crawling, they are oviparous and have scales in your body.
  • Birds : the birds have feathers, two wings and two legs. They are oviparous.
  • Mammals : the mammals are viviparous , feed their young with milk and have hair in your body except the marine mammals like  dolphins and whales.

Invertebrates animals are divided in six types:
  • Cnidarians : the cnidarians are oviparous, the are aquatics animals, they live into seas and oceans ( jellyfish, anemones and corals ) and rivers and lakes (hydra).
  • Worms : the worms are oviparous,  they move by crawling and they can live six or eight months.
  • Arthropods : the arthorpods are oviparous, they are divided in five types (millipedes, centipedes, arachnids, crustaceans and insects).
  • Molluscs : the molluscs are oviparous, live on land and they eat organic matter.
  • Sponges : The sponges are the simplest of invertebrates. Most sponges live in  the ocean, but a few are found in a fresh water. They are bag shaped and don't move.
  • Echinoderms : They are only marine animals (starfish, sea urchins and sea cucumbers). They crawling on the ocean floor. All echinoderms have some type of spiny structure on the outside.
  •

Animals are classified by their way of being born in:
VIVIPAROUS: Viviparous animals are born from the mother's gut
OVIPAROUS: Oviparous animals are born from the eggs

Animals are classified by their feeding in:
CARNIVORES: Carnivorous animals eat only meat
OMNIVORES: Omnivorous animals eat meat, fish and plants
HERVIBORES: Herviborous animals eat only plants

FUN FACTS

  • The only flying mammal is the bat.
  • Frogs can breathe throught their skin.
  • There are likely millions of invertebrates living in your house right now. They are called dust mites and you can't see them.
  • Around 23% of all marine organisms are molluscs.
