THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
- The digestive system is a group of organs working toghether to convert food into energy and basic nutrients.
- The alimentary canal is made up of the coral cavity pharinx,esophagus, stomach, small intestines and large intestine.
HOW THATS IT WORKS:
Food is chewed in the mouth where is mixed with saliva.
After, it crosses the pharinx, goes thrtough the esophagus unil it goes to the stomach where it is mixed with the gastric juices and a mush called chyme is formed (DIGESTION)
Chyme reaches the small intestine and it is mixed with juices from the pancreas and the liver to became chyle. Here, the nutrients are absorbed (ABSORPTION).
It now passes into the large intestine where water is absorbed and the faeces are expelled through the anus (EXCRETION).
